I am getting the Sanyo Xacti VPC and thinking of getting a audio technica atr-55?
Firstly, will they be compatible, as I hear some mics and cameras lack compatibility. Secondly, since I live in Perth, Australia, will a mic from USA work or will I have to buy locally?
And also, what is available in the way of cables to extend the microphone cable distance as it's only about 3 feet.
Hey I'm not seeing in the Sanyo Xacti specs that it has a external mic jack. If it doesn't then you cannot connect any external mics to the camera.
If it does then it will most likely have a 1/8 phono jack and yes that mic will work. To extend it you can go to an electronics store, in the USA we have radioshacks, and they will carry 1/8 phono jack extensions.
Audio is universal, so you shouldn't have any problems there with it coming from another country. But from what I'm reading on this camera there is no external mic port. Hope this helps.
